Here’s a photo of all the submissions we got in the mail for this year’s compilation CD (not including the many submitted online by internationals and procrastinators)! In total, there are over 80 tracks for the listening committee to review, from about 40 fawmers. General trends? There are several collaborations, a few instrumentals, and a healthy number of weekly challenge songs too (especially the “color” and “street name” themes). The envelopes on the floor also include files for the collaborative Strangle Disco “megamix” magnum opus I intend to begin work on this week (about 15 songs to draw from, which might be plenty)!

I haven’t had a chance to listen to everything yet, but I’m blown away by what I’ve heard so far. I managed to get everything collated last night (took several hours), somewhat normalized the audio levels, and anonymized the “artist” MP3 tags for the listening committee, who will start listening soon.
We’ll have more news about this, our third annual FAWM compilation CD, toward the end of the month. Thanks to all of you who submitted your music! Your efforts made this the best FAWM yet, and will make it the best “fawmpilation” yet, too…
haha, that’s mine in the middle left! yay! i’m so excited for the CD…
Great news ! No submission from me, but I can’t wait to hear the final FAWMpilation.
What I mean to say is this years FAWMpilation, the final result, not the final FAWMpilation :$
hey now that this pseudo new site is up - you dropped the link to the myspace FAWM Rocks page and it’s not on the fawmers site either…just a thought. can’t wait to see the latest fawmpilation…and cd art! is strangle disco dead? k
Thanks for the heads up, kermy! We’ve added link buttons to those places, and added a links section on the sidebar as well.
And strangle disco is dead. Long live strangle disco!
Strangle Disco lives (and is dead!)
The compilation CD is on hold thanks to legal complications (which sounds impressive but simply is due to almost nobody sending in consent forms. My hands are tied.)
Ah. Tim, just send me the consent forms and the list of people you need them from, and I will forge their signatures.
I have a useful lack of moral fiber, a knack for escaping bureaucratic punishment, and an encyclopedic knowledge of Danish “Fair Use” laws.
What about the mockumentary?
Just finished listening to “Evergreen” from this
last years compliation. I was sooo intimidated of sending
any of my songs in this year, and after listening to “Evergreen” I now know why, the song is awesome!
But hey, I did it anyway in spite!
Because its fun and it keeps me from reading all the bad news on the internet!
Sadly I didn’t have time to send any of my tracks this year (which was my first FAWM year, btw). I almost did, but then… didn’t. Oh well!
Ok… I’ll fess up. I’m on the listening committee… and let me just say.. YOU GUYS ROCK!
The quality of the tracks had repeatedly blown my mind. Selecting tracks is in no way easy, because they’re all so darn good. Recording quality is high, production quality is high, everything is just good! In a weird sort of way it is a pleasure to have such a difficult job.
Nancy: The mockumentary suffers from similar setbacks. Notwithstanding Scott’s generous offer, I’ll take Burr’s advice on this one and try to get signatures from peeps the legitimate way.
Maybe next FAWM I can re-drum-up interest in the mocku. SD will have been featured on the FAWM 3 CD, so maybe…
Im definitely ready to get it recorded and edited.
Any news on the Fawmpilation CD? Juuust curious…
So, have the FAWMpilation selections been made? Just curious.
-Scott
Listening to all this great music has been exhausting!
There will be an update on this year’s fawmpilation status very soon, possibly later this week… so stay tuned…
Hooray!
I’ve been singing Golden Gate in my head all morning… and Giant Brain.
